Buying a Piano
When thinking about buying a piano the best place to start is by deciding if you would like a real (acoustic) piano or an electric piano.
Acoustic Piano
Although acoustic pianos have a slightly better sound and feel than an electric piano, the differences are becoming less an less as technology improves. If you choose to buy an acoustic piano then it is worth going to a piano dealer such as Mickleburghs. Good acoustic pianos start at around £1500.
Electric Piano
If you choose to buy an electric piano then the advantage is that they can be a lot cheaper. Starting at around £400 electric pianos usually also have the capability of being connected to computer for recording.
Keyboards
Keyboards are also an option for learning to play the piano at a beginners level. After this it is advisable that a full acoustic or electric piano is used. Keyboards also usually have lots of sounds and recording facilities, which can be fun for younger beginners.
